CHILD ABUSE PROGRAMS

The Tennessee Highway Patrol Retired Officers Association in 1985 elected to do a project in the prevention of child abuse here in Tennessee. The retired troopers, during their tenure of service witnessed many severe cases of child abuse. THPROA checks many child abuse centers across the State of Tennessee to select an abuse center to work with. Many small centers were found to be doing wonderful programs with the children even though they were experiencing a serious lack of funds.  THPROA choose to help the centers that needed the most help. Members of our organization frequently make onsite visits to the centers throughout western, middle, and eastern Tennessee that we support. Disbursements in excess of $30,000.00 are reviewed and made annually. A list of the participating abuse centers and the appropriate contact people have been made available for your review. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the child abuse centers listed or any of our board members should you have any questions about our efforts or our programs. Since the inception of the child abuse program The Tennessee Highway Patrol Retired Officers Association has to this date contributed over $800,000 to various Child Abuse Centers within the State of Tennessee.
